Made from a piece of thermoplastic, the Mudguard's profile is molded so that when mounted to the fork, mud, dirt and whatever else would find its way into your face.
The shape was determined from the trajectory of things thrown into the air by the tire, at various speeds of the wheel. In short, spin the wheel, dump water on it, and see where it goes. The fact that the Mudguard is mounted so close to the tire means it can be small and discreet, yet effective. It's only 1mm thick, so it's a weight that's barely worth mentioning.
The Velcro straps are there for easy installation and removal. If you want it reliably moted all year round, you can also use cable ties.
